Dorothy - Wizard of Oz
Character: Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz
The Wizard of Oz was a 1939 American musical fantasy film, which was based on the 1900 children's novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The film was named the most-watched motion picture in history and is often ranked among the Top 10 Best Movies of All Time.
This costume was inspired by the Rudy slippers [which I bought because they were so shiny]. The dress itself was easy to make, simple blue & white fabric, zipper down the back. The whole thing only took 2-3 hours to make. Super easy! I wore this costume to work and school [2012] on Halloween.
I didn't notice until I was wearing it that it was a little tight across the chest, and it completely flattened my boobs. [Which didn't bother me at all until I saw the pin up pictures and wished that I could've fit some inserts in there for effect]. Speaking of which; Pin up Dorothy. Why not?
It started while I was trying to improve on my indoor photography set up [which was literally moving all the house lights around some fabric that I tacked up in the living room.. which I was doing because my man-friend isn't the best photographer and I want to simplify the process]. The lighting looked acceptable so I dove right in. I had a few photo ready costumes literally hanging on the closet door. It was a spur of the moment photo-shoot. I like pin up style. The color contrast on these aren't very good, but I like the style and I wish I could do more of it. The outdoor pictures were taken at/around a local man-made community pond.
