Kamina - Gurren Lagann
Character: Kamina from Gurren Lagann
Gurren Lagann known in Japan as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, literally "Heaven-Piercing Gurren Lagann", is a Japanese mecha anime television series. Gurren Lagann takes place in a fictional future where Earth is ruled by the Spiral King, Lordgenome, who forces mankind to live in isolated subterranean villages. These villages have no contact with the surface world or other villages, and are under constant threat of earthquakes. Selected villagers called diggers are conscripted to expand their homes deeper underground.
Simon, a meek young digger ostracized by his peers, finds solace in his best friend and older brother figure, an eccentric delinquent named Kamina. Kamina is a refractory youth from Giha village who dreams of leaving his underground home and going to the surface world, which he saw as a child. Kamina allows Simon to join his gang, Team Gurren.
I also did a half-assed Yoko costume some time ago, but was too embarrassed to wear it out.
I personally didn't make this costume, GreatWhite made it all a while back [it's what he was wearing when we first met]. He also wanted to do a male version of Yoko for SacAnime, so I wore his entire Kamina costume. But I did make his Yoko Rifle.
Costume consists of: Black pants with stripes, red cape, wig, orange glasses, white bandages, belt, sandals, and some body paint.
I really tried to make myself look masculine with the makeup; thick eyebrows, 5 o'clock shadow, a little stubble on the chin.
The glasses were annoying, they were held on by fashion tape, so every-so-often I would accidentally bump them off my face.
Pictures were taken at SacAnime Summer 2013. Photos by Kris Ling, Oscar Benjamin, Yiu Ma, and others.
