A Clockwork Orange - Droog
A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 British film written, produced, and directed by Stanley Kubrick, adapted from Anthony Burgess's 1962 novella A Clockwork Orange. It employs disturbing, violent images to comment on psychiatry, juvenile delinquency, youth gangs, and other social, political, and economic subjects in a dystopian future Britain.
The main character, Alex, is a charismatic, sociopathic delinquent whose interests include classical music (especially Beethoven), rape, and ultra-violence. He leads a small gang of thugs, whom he calls his droogs. The film chronicles the horrific crime spree of his gang, his capture, and attempted rehabilitation via controversial psychological conditioning.
I started putting together this costume years ago, but lost sight of it for a long while. At first, I wanted to do this costume because I thought this movie was really cool as a kid. It turned out to hold up against the Test of Time really well. Actor Malcolm Mcdowell is still working the convention circuit, so this costume is still popular. A lot of people [old and young alike] recognized the costume.
I bought most of the pieces, with exception to the eyeball cuff links, which I made. Easy costume to wear. I even had a cane laying around to use for a prop.
Costume consists of: white pants, white shirt, suspenders, boots, cuff links, half eye makeup, hat.
Pictures were taken at AOD 2016. Photos by Toshi Studios, EricV, and others.
