Colonial Cupcake
I’ve been calling this one my Colonial Cupcakesburg dress, because the fabric pattern is little cupcakes (and Colonial Williamsburg is 1699-1780).
I made this one from scratch. It’s very similar to other dresses I’ve made this summer, like the grey colonial , the blue polonaise, Lady VanTassel. This one is cute and casual. I bought the straw hat. The skirt has some tucks at the hem.
It’s nearly historical, but not really a character. Looks like something you might see Marie Antoinette wear in her garden in the 1770s. It’s a pleasant outfit. Casual garden dress, Not too fancy.
If you’re having trouble with the timeline. After the Renaissance style 1300-1600, came the Baroque style 1600-, which is the ornate/extravagant styling of art in the early 17th-mid 18th century. Followed by the more lively Rococo/Neoclassical styles 1730- [also ornamental/theatrically decorative], fueled by King Louis XIV.
The American Revolutionary War against the British Empire 1775-1783. The French Revolution was 1789-1799.
