Mystique - X-Men - Marvel
Mystique from X-Men. Marvel Universe
I also did her classic comic version.
She first appeared in Ms.Marvel [1978]. Throughout most of her history, Mystique has been a supervillain, founding her own Brotherhood of Mutants and assassinating several important people involved in mutant affairs. Mystique herself is a mutant, a shapeshifter whose natural appearance includes blue skin, red hair, and yellow eyes. At one point, she mentions that she is over 100 years old. In the live action 2000 X-Men movies, her costume is reappraised as primarily naked and covered in scales.
I've been wanting to make this costume for years. But, I got lazy somewhere in there, and didn't finish it for some-reason-or-other. This body suit has literally been sitting in pile on my half-baked-costume bin for years. I did the comic version of her last year. Costume consists of: blue spotty bodysuit, and makeup. For this costume, I basically painted spots all over a blue bodysuit, and did some crazy makeup. It was a nice costume, it's easy to get in-and-out of, comfortable & stretchy. But it's not very detailed or flashy, so I don't consider it one of my better projects.
There were not many comic book cosplayers at this con, it was a struggle to find a single X-Men character.
Pictures were taken at AnimeLosAngeles 2014, Photos by Kris Ling, Toshiyasu Morita, and others.
