historical steampunk gothic coat
The Black and Yellow historical steampunk pirate gothic fashion coat. aka: Alucard from Castlevania
Not very historical, but you can see that it does have bits of inspiration from historical coats. The length, the large cuffs, the vest, the collar.
I got it from a local costume shop that was going out of business. It’s lined and a pretty nice coat for a costume piece. It even has some side pockets, which could've been more historically accurate, these are just sewn into a seam.
This style of gothic fashion has been around for a long time, but I hardly ever see people wearing it in the wild. Maybe it looks too fancy for everyday wear, or maybe it's just too impractical.
This exact coat is also sold on amazon, and the model just wears shiny black pants. It’s not a particularly feminine coat. It doesn’t have much of a waistline emphasis.

This outfit looks like if the founding fathers were also vampires. sort of Castlevania-ish.
Anyways, I got this jacket and started trying to incorporate it into some of my costume looks. The layers make it too warm to wear in summer. I made a yellow skirt, but it didn't look right. I ended up taking some photos around the house in a thrown together historical style. short pants with high socks. |
