Obviously, adapting any costume to cross genders has its draw backs, but I did find some comic art from an alternate reality where Jane Foster picks up the Hammer [Earth-788 (What If #10)] renaming herself Thordis. So, this costume isn't a hard stretch.
This is one of the more prop-based costumes I've done in a while. I fashioned all the props after the movie costume, not the comic. All the armor pieces are made out of thick craft foam, that I carved/etched with a hot-knife, shaped, glued, and painted. The clothing is just a corset, cape, leggings, and the Hammer itself was a Target halloween prop. The gauntlets and cape are my favorite part [the finishing touches really do make the costume complete]. The belt was a bit of a problem, the little bottom pieces kept getting bent. Lady Thor has been a very popular character ever since the Avengers movies. You can pretty much buy a whole armor costume set, pre-made, year around. I had a blast wearing this. I also made it onto a random webpage.
