Sorceress
This was inspired by some fantasy artwork.
I don't even know who the artist is. The image came up when I googled: "green cloak red hair".
I made the dress years ago in school as a class project, and [like most of the original costumes I made before 2009] it just collected dust in the closet. [I made this dress about the same time as my blue fairy dress]. It's winter now [New Year 2012-2013], so I emptied my closet to see if I could make some space, and I found this dress. Same story with the cloak. I think it belonged to a my brothers girlfriend back in high school, and I think I borrowed it when I was in my renaissance-fairy-phase..
The dress is really very elegant, it's dark red with a wide neckline, puffy sleeves and a very full skirt. The black corset has laces down the back, and an iron-on applique on the front [like a broach].
My new years resolution is year is: to take better pictures, and to finish all the costumes that I started last year. So, this one falls under both categories [it's been in storage for years and I've never taken a picture in it]. Although, now that I see it, I may alter it and wear it to the next renaissance faire.
The pictures were taken at a cabin in South Lake Tahoe, CA. It wasn't the best photo-shoot, since it was getting dark and I kept sinking into the snow. Some of the coolest pictures turned out very blurry.. That little glow ball I'm holding is 1 of my color changing poi balls. I wish it was a bit more fantasy shaped, but it's what I had on hand.
