Star Trek : The Next Generation - Trekkie
Star Trek: The Next Generation [1987-1994] is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry twenty-one years after the original Star Trek series as part of the Star Trek franchise.
Also see my other uniform. See my Original Series Trekkie costume, and a few variations there of: Orion & Andorian. And see my Klingon. NTG is one of my favorites.
Check out the Workshop page for a WIP. I drafted the pattern myself, and I'm really proud of it.
I wanted to make this because I love Star Trek and my original series uniform was getting a little tight. I have not made many perfectly pressed uniform costumes, and I'm rather pleased with how well this one fits. Nice and spacious.
It's made from scratch [totally by me] of basic suiting material. I wanted to make it blue, but I couldn't find the proper color, so I made the other 2 colors & I bought the badges online.
The hardest part was the zippers. When sewing 3 layers together, the bottom layer tends to move faster through the sewing machine cause the feed-dog is on the bottom. So the top layer slides/bunches. I'm ashamed that after all these years of costume making I still forgot to heat bond the 2 layers together and the top layer of fabric bunched up.
Costume consists of: uniform and boots, badge, tricorder.
Pictures were taken at Fanime 2015. Photos by Toshi, Corpus, and others.
