Vintage Batgirl - Batman - DC
Character: Batgirl [first introduced into publication in 1961]
From: Batman DC Universe
This is sort-of an original design. I love Batman. I like to think it began with my go-to response of "needs more Batman", someone said something about their Halloween costume being pin-up style. So, I ran home and made a vintage style poodle skirt outfit with the Batman logo on it.
Anyways.. Batgirl, there have been 4 different character renditions of Batgirl. Since her debut in DC Comics publication, and fueled by her adaptation into the Batman television series in 1967, Barbara Gordon's Batgirl has been listed among fictional characters that are regarded as cultural icons. The Cassandra Cain version of Batgirl, depicted as a biracial character (Half White and half Chinese), is notable as one of the most prominent characters of Asian descent to appear in American comic books. So yeah! half-asian pride! In 2011, she was ranked 17th in both Comics Buyer's Guide's "100 Sexiest Women in Comics" and IGN's "Top 100 Comic Books Heroes".
I wanted to make this because I love Batman, and I am on a personal mission to do as many DC characters as I can. I've already done: Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, and LadyRiddler.
Costume consists of: poodle skirt with Batman logo, vintage style top, gloves, mask, corset, belt. I made this whole outfit from scratch, and I'm quite pleased with myself.
Pictures were taken at Pacific Media Expo 2013, and Wizard World 2015. << a friend of mine wore my Riddler outfit so we'd match.
Links to the Bane & Riddler, Floyd & Dexter, I didn't know them personally, I just pumped into them in the hallway at the convention.
Reference pictures were found at Lola Nova DeviantART and an article on GEEKOLOGIE about Batman characters re-imagined.
Photos by Paul Stout, Eric Valverde, and others.
