Vivian Ward
Character: Vivian Ward. From the 1990 movie: Pretty Woman, staring Julia Roberts
Romantic comedy. This movie is considered one of the most popular films of all time, and made Julia Roberts a star. Vivian is a Hollywood hooker who's down on her luck, and gets hired by a wealthy businessman for a week. The film was originally intend to be a dark drama about prostitution in LA in the late 80s, but turned into a comedy.
I wanted to make this costume because of how famous this movie is [I like to make easily recognizable costumes so I don't have to explain myself], and because I was planning a road trip to Disneyland and wanted to make a Hollywood cosplay. Conveniently, the Disneyland trip occurred the weekend before Halloween 2012, so strutting down Hollywood Blvd in this skimpy dress went widely unnoticed.
The dress is made out of blue and white knit fabric. I airbrushed the blue fabric to get the tie dye effect. I bought the thigh high leather boots for $5 at a fire sale from a LA prop house [same ones I used with my first Catwoman costume], some jewelry, and a short blonde wig
I also wore this dress to Interstellar2, along with my Andorian antennae. 2013. Photos by Catbutt, and others.
Pictures were taken and on/around Hollywood Blvd. October 2012. Photos by James Modrall.
