Pyramid Head - Silent Hill
Character: Pyramid Head. From: Silent Hill [games 1999 & movies 2006]
He resembles a pale, muscular man covered with a white, blood-soaked robe reminiscent of a butcher's smock. He does not speak, but grunts and moans painfully. His most outstanding feature is his large triangular head, and his weapons consist of the heavy Great Knife.
I wanted to make this for GreatWhite as a present, but he never got around to wearing it, and a year went by where it just collected dust in the garage. So since he didn't want it, I recently finished it with a grimy apron dress and am wearing it myself.
Costume consists of: a grimy dress, body paint, giant sword, and pyramid headpiece.
The headpiece is lightweight. It's mostly cardboard and foam bits, and there's a slimmed down bicycle helmet inside it to keep it secured [the little knobs on the side are bottle caps]. I made the apron dress from scratch. It's a simple 2 piece dress with darts. Painting it was really fun, I think that distressing/aging stuff is now my specialty. The makeup on my arms is some latex scaring, and lots of paint. I wore a petticoat under the dress to keep it poofed out at all times, and some very tall shoes.
See the workshop page for a WIP. The knife is mostly cardboard, gaffers tape, some hot glue, and paint [always lots of paint].
I think wearing messed up nightmare characters is a nice change of pace from the usual cute/sexy ones. I'm not as easily recognizable behind all the bloody makeup, and I like that. Also see my Dark Nurse.
Pictures were taken at the 11/2014 Norcal Cosplay Gathering in Fremont, CA. I even bumped into some nurses.
