Purple Fairy Princess Dress
I’m not sure what happened to my brain this year, but everything seemed to be Fantasy-Renaissance themed. Renaissance Era [5th century - 15th century].
Also see my Renaissance Fantasy: Purple and Orange, my Renaissance lady, and my Black and Red wench.
I've also done other fairy dresses : Blue Fairy, Autumn Fairy.
I have also been really into historical dresses this year.
see my Regency Blue, Edwardian Black, Victorian Lady, or Steampunk Green.
I didn’t based this dress on any character. I made this dress over the summer in excited preparation several weeks before a show, and ended up using in the show. I think I was watching a lot of Versailles that month [a drama show on Netflix about King Louis the 14th of France, set in the 1700s].
Purple dress, small sleeves, square-ish neckline, Zipper down the back. It's not a tight dress. no lacing, no grommets. NOT at all historically accurate. Side note on grommets: Grommets are somewhat of a specialty, so if you’re unable to do them, just use the buttonhole feature on your sewing machine instead. The underwear layer corset should really be doing most of the waist shaping, the dress should always be loosely worn on top of a corset; if the dress is too tight, you will wear it out. See some building pictures in the workshop.
I built this bodice on top of an existing plain purple dress. The bodice top fabric is sheer and embroidered.
Worn with a red wig, and elf ears. This outfit was not based on anything, but I did want it to look 1700s-inspired, so I gave it a deep point on the center front panel, and I wore it with a hip roll.
Pictures were taken at Halloween Party. Photos by KrisLing, OscarC, and others.
