Harley Quinn - DC Universe
Character: Comic/Cartoon: Harley Quinn
aka Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel from Batman
She is a frequent accomplice and the girlfriend of Batman's nemesis the Joker, and is also a close friend of Poison Ivy. The comic book describes Harleen Quinzel as an Arkham Asylum psychiatrist who falls for the Joker and becomes his accomplice and on-off sidekick/lover. Batman is my favorite superhero, so I wanted to do all the DC ladies [starting with Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy].
I made the costume as a top and bottom [separates] because I wanted to wear just the shirt on a casual basis. Made in the fall of 2011, and worn causally as an everyday shirt. The mask is painted on, and the guns are not real. I got a lot of mileage out of that shirt [wore it all the time], but I'm not terribly proud of the whole costume. It started out as 2 shirts that I cut into 4ths, and sewed back together. I used the extra material to make the hat and the diamond pattern on the front and back.
I didn't realize the hat was on backwards until I put the 2 pictures next to each other. Oh well, you get the idea.
I have yet to wear this to a convention, so all the photos were taken in my house.
