Green, Purple, and Black Fairy
The green and black dress with purple wings. I threw this outfit together in a hurry. It is not any particular character, but I guess it’s another one of my fantasy fairy dresses.
I’ve done a few others: Blue Fairy, Autumn Fairy, Purple Fairy. They all sort of look like something I might wear to a renaissance faire.
I’m not sure what happened to my brain this year, but everything seemed to be Fantasy-Renaissance themed. Renaissance Era [5th century - 15th century].
If you like Renaissance, Also see my Purple and Orange, my Burgundy lady , and my Black and Red pirate.
I didn’t full intend on making this outfit, as I started with a diff top for this skirt, in gold. It all started when a theatre director tossed 6 yards of this cheap shiny sheer fabric into the dumpster because she was unable to use it as a table cloth in the lobby. I pulled it out of the trash, and made it into the petticoat inside this green skirt, and I liked the look of it, so I finished it. The glittery top layer fabric might have been a mistake, because the glitter flakes off EVERYWHERE. So I think if I were to do it all over again, I would not have used that particular fabric.
The green skirt part took less than 1 hour to make [freehand pleats into a waistband]. and the top is based off a cheap store-bought fashion corset, which I altered. I added the criss-cross front straps, and hitched the lace skirt up in the front.
This top could easily be a spooky Halloween top, since it’s all black, and I could easily pair it with any color skirt. I added a little bow on the back, but you can’t see it in any pictures. add some wings and make it a fairy. I made the flower crown myself, and wore it with a sparkly mask as a headdress.
The skirt lights up. I’ve done a few light-up dresses in the past. See the Workshop blog about it, and also my: Christmas dress, winter fairy, Shaymin pokemon. I used 2 LED wire string lights, in green and blue, and there are 2 battery packs in a hidden skirt pocket.
I do love light up dresses.
Not bad. I’m happy that I had the opportunity to get a photo in it.
